The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owo in Ondo State embarked on strike on Monday over unpaid arrears of salaries in both federal and state tertiary health institutions across the country.
Also, some demands include non-inclusion of resident doctors in the Federal Government’s integrated salary pay structure, lack of funding for residency training and non-enrollment of their members on pension arrangement.
Speaking with Newsmen on Tuesday in Akure, Fakorede said:“The national body of resident doctors has declared a total and indefinite strike and resident doctors at FMC, Owo, will fully comply.
He advised the concern parties to address the issues in the nation’s health sector especially the problem facing resident doctors in Nigeria.
“Our issues are straight forward. We are asking for our shortfall in salaries of 2016 till date, enrollment of members on the IPPIS platform and the pension scheme.
“We are also asking the government to make sure that the stagnation of our members is resolved,” Fakorede said.
