Ogoni Central Indigenous Authority OCAI, celebrated its 5 years of running an indigenous government in Khana Gokana Tai and Eleme Local Government areas of Rivers State.
OCIA which came into being on August 2, 2012, in line with the United Nations Declaration on Rights of Indigenous People, forbids the call for restructuring of Nigeria, saying that the idea will lead to re-colonisation of smaller ethnic groups in the country.
The President of OCIA Dr. Goodluck Diigbo, in his address to the people while celebrating the day at Bori, the cultural and political capital of the Ogoni nation, in Khana Local Government Area, disclosed that in the last five years the Ogoni government has attained a milestone.

“We are inspired by shared efforts and our goals to ensure human and material security as well as food security in Ogoniland” he said.
He stated further that by the end of the month OCIA would commence the construction of cassava processing plant with raw materials from 59 cassava farms founded by the authority to ensure enough supply of food in the area.

He said; “OCIA has grown and spead throughout 11 provionces, 54 districts and operating 15 institutions, training and empowerment agencies. Ogoni National Legislative Assembly, Onla, are jointly working to set guidelines for investors to come into the Ogoni economic development initiatives.
