The Ekiti State Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) lost an officer on Wednesday as unidentified gunmen shot him dead in Ado Ekiti. The officer whose name was disclosed as Sunday Afolabi was gunned down and his service pistol was stolen by the assailants. The fatal encounter occurred near the corps state headquarters in Ado Ekiti around 3pm.
An eyewitness gave an account of the incident saying it was two men that attacked him in his Toyota Camry 2015 model. It was stated:
“The two men dragged him down from his car and shot him in the back and leg while he was trying to flee the scene. He died from shortage of blood because there was no one to help him.”
It was discovered that the assailants then took away his service pistol after abandoning his car in the bush. The NSCDC spokesman, Tolu Afolabi confirmed the incident to newsmen on Thursday.
He disclosed that investigation had been launched into the incident in a bid to uncover the identities of the killers that perpetrated the act.
Until his death, It was disclosed that the late Afolabi was the Head of Unit, Intelligence and Investigation, of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps. He was an Assistant Superintendent Corps 1.
